Of the home humanoids RightRobot tracks, NEO is the clearest example of a product aimed directly at consumers. The key question is no longer whether it looks like a real product, but what an early buyer will actually receive: which tasks are autonomous from day one, which capabilities are still developing, and when scheduled Expert assistance may be needed.
In the US, 1X currently offers a refundable US$200 deposit, US$20,000 Early Access ownership or a US$499-per-month subscription. RightRobot treats these as US terms and tracks UK availability separately.

Judge the hardware, autonomy and human help separately
It is easier to judge NEO if you separate what the hardware can do, what the robot can do by itself and what still needs a human. A polished demonstration does not prove all three.
Home hardware
Stereo cameras, microphones, connected controls, dexterous hands and a home-oriented physical design form the hardware foundation.
What it can do by itself
1X says Early Access units will have basic autonomy, with capabilities expected to improve over time as the software develops.
Expert Mode
For chores that NEO cannot yet complete by itself, scheduled remote human assistance remains part of how NEO works.
What to watch over time
The important measure is simple: can NEO complete more useful tasks reliably while needing less human help?

These official 1X videos show the product, its design intent and parts of its autonomy system. RightRobot presents them alongside clear evidence labels so manufacturer demonstrations are not mistaken for independent verification.
The videos make it clear that 1X is presenting NEO as a home product, not just a research robot.
Buyers need to know which tasks NEO can do by itself and when remote human help may still be needed.
That is the gap between an impressive demonstration and a robot you can rely on to work around the home by itself.
Ask what you need NEO to do on day one.
If you need broad, unsupervised household autonomy from day one, an official demonstration is not enough evidence. If you are comfortable with an early-access product that will evolve over time and may sometimes rely on scheduled Expert support, NEO may still be a credible option.

Is 1X NEO fully autonomous?+
1X says Early Access units will begin with basic autonomy and gain capabilities over time. For complex chores that NEO cannot yet complete autonomously, owners can schedule Expert Mode, in which a 1X Expert remotely assists with the task. RightRobot therefore assesses autonomy task by task.
Is NEO teleoperated?+
NEO supports remote control and Expert Mode, so human assistance is part of how the product works. That does not mean every task is teleoperated; 1X describes some demonstrations as autonomous. RightRobot labels each task according to the evidence rather than assuming NEO is either fully autonomous or fully teleoperated.
Can NEO climb stairs?+
1X has shown a Redwood stair-climbing system that uses stereo vision. RightRobot treats this as useful manufacturer evidence, but not yet as broad independent proof that NEO can handle different staircases reliably across many homes.
Can NEO cook?+
The well-known NEO Beta steak-cooking video is not proof of autonomous cooking. 1X explicitly said that demonstration used teleoperation. Fully autonomous cooking remains a much higher bar.
What privacy hardware does NEO have?+
1X currently lists dual stereo fisheye cameras, four beamforming microphones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 5G, along with app-based monitoring, communication and remote-control capabilities. RightRobot treats privacy and remote access as core buying criteria.
Has RightRobot physically tested NEO?+
No. This is an evidence assessment, not a hands-on RightRobot test. The page separates manufacturer claims and demonstrations, examples that were explicitly teleoperated, tasks that 1X says were autonomous and any evidence that later becomes independently verified.
